  • 1 pound of smoked sausage, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups of milk
  • 2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Cook elbow macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente, then drain.
  2. Sauté sliced smoked sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned.
  3. Make cheese sauce by melting butter, whisking in flour, adding milk, and stirring in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, cheddar, and Parmesan until creamy.
  4. Combine cooked pasta and sausage with the cheese sauce, stirring well; top with breadcrumbs if desired.
  5. For a crispy top, bake the mixture in a dish at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes.
