A quick and flavorful stir fry featuring tender beef, vibrant vegetables, and a spicy Szechuan sauce.

  • Total Time: 30

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound beef sirloin (thinly sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon ginger (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Szechuan peppercorns
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste (adjust for heat preference)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Green onions (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Start by marinating the beef. In a bowl, mix the sliced beef with cornstarch and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes or until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add the remaining oil. Toss in the garlic and ginger, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, add in the bell peppers and broccoli. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  • Return the beef to the pan along with the Szechuan peppercorns, chili paste, remaining soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
  • Serve hot, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy!
