A classic Italian dish made with ground beef, tomatoes, and herbs, served over spaghetti pasta.

  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey for a lighter option)
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 medium carrot (finely diced)
  • 1 stalk celery (finely diced)
  • 1 14 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 lb spaghetti
  • to taste Fresh parsley (chopped for garnish)

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Add oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Bring the sauce to a simmer. Lower the heat and let it cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Meanwhile, boil a pot of salted water. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
  • Drain the spaghetti and serve it on plates. Top with the Bolognese sauce and garnish with fresh parsley.
