- 1 lb ground beef (or turkey for a lighter option)
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 medium carrot (finely diced)
- 1 stalk celery (finely diced)
- 1 14 oz can crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- to taste Salt
- to taste Pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 lb spaghetti
- to taste Fresh parsley (chopped for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are soft, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Add oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer. Lower the heat and let it cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, boil a pot of salted water. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
- Drain the spaghetti and serve it on plates. Top with the Bolognese sauce and garnish with fresh parsley.
