  • Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • Chicken pieces (legs, thighs, or breasts)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken in a mixture of buttermilk and eggs for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Dredge marinated chicken in the flour mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  4. Heat about 2 inches of oil in a skillet or deep fryer to 350°F.
  5. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown, about 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  6. Drain on paper towels and let rest before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken overnight.
  • Adjust spices in the flour mixture to customize the batter.
