- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Yellow frosting (store-bought or homemade)
- Black decorating gel or chocolate chips for wheels
- Optional assorted sprinkles for extra decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined. Don’t overmix!
- Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to drop dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Let them cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
- Once cooled, spread yellow frosting on top of each cookie. Use black gel or chocolate chips to create wheels.
- Get creative! Add sprinkles or other decorations to make your school bus cookies stand out.
