- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups peeled and chopped apples (like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 cup salted caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add the softened butter and buttermilk to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Next, mix in the eggs, vanilla extract, and chopped apples until evenly distributed.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. Drizzle half of the salted caramel sauce over it.
- Pour the remaining batter on top and swirl the remaining caramel sauce.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
