  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples (like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup salted caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  • Add the softened butter and buttermilk to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  • Next, mix in the eggs, vanilla extract, and chopped apples until evenly distributed.
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. Drizzle half of the salted caramel sauce over it.
  • Pour the remaining batter on top and swirl the remaining caramel sauce.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
