Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ cup salted caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: sea salt for sprinkling on top
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, melted butter, and salt. Stir until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust. Bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden.
- While the crust is baking, toss the diced apples with cinnamon and set aside.
- Once the crust is done, remove it from the oven and spread the diced apples evenly over the top.
- Drizzle the salted caramel sauce over the apples, making sure to cover them well.
- Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the caramel layer.
- Bake for another 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before lifting out of the pan and slicing into bars.
- For an extra touch, sprinkle a bit of sea salt on top just before serving.
