- 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)
- 2 cups of milk
- 3/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup of cornstarch
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup of unsalted butter
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and roll out the puff pastry. Cut into 3-inch squares.
- Place squares on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool completely.
- In a saucepan, whisk milk, sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks over medium heat until thickened. Stir in vanilla extract and butter until combined.
- Cut the puff pastry squares in half horizontally, fill with custard, and top with the other half.
- Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately or chill for later.
Notes
- Ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed before rolling out.
- For a richer custard, use whole milk instead of low-fat milk.
