Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 3/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of cornstarch
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and roll out the puff pastry. Cut into 3-inch squares.
  2. Place squares on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool completely.
  3. In a saucepan, whisk milk, sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks over medium heat until thickened. Stir in vanilla extract and butter until combined.
  4. Cut the puff pastry squares in half horizontally, fill with custard, and top with the other half.
  5. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately or chill for later.
