- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)
- 1 large onion (thinly sliced)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 4 burger buns
- Optional toppings (lettuce, tomato, pickles, cheese, mustard, or ketchup)
- Butter (for toasting buns (optional))
Instructions
- Start by heating a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Season your ground beef with salt and pepper.
- Spread the onion slices on the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes until they start to soften.
- Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and form them into patties, making a small indentation in the center.
- Place the beef patties over the onions on the skillet, pressing down gently.
- Cook for about 4-5 minutes on the first side. Flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
- If adding cheese, place on during the last minute to melt.
- Toast the buns in a separate pan with butter until golden brown.
- Assemble by placing the patty on the bun and adding your favorite toppings.
