A classic American burger featuring a juicy patty with onions cooked right into it for added flavor.

  • Total Time: 25

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)
  • 1 large onion (thinly sliced)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 4 burger buns
  • Optional toppings (lettuce, tomato, pickles, cheese, mustard, or ketchup)
  • Butter (for toasting buns (optional))

Instructions

  • Start by heating a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Season your ground beef with salt and pepper.
  • Spread the onion slices on the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes until they start to soften.
  • Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and form them into patties, making a small indentation in the center.
  • Place the beef patties over the onions on the skillet, pressing down gently.
  • Cook for about 4-5 minutes on the first side. Flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  • If adding cheese, place on during the last minute to melt.
  • Toast the buns in a separate pan with butter until golden brown.
