- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cans pasta sauce (15 ounces each)
- 1 can diced tomatoes (15 ounces)
- 12 ounces spaghetti
- 3 cups cottage cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the pasta sauce and diced tomatoes. Let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes.
- While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix the cottage cheese, half of the mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the spaghetti, followed by half of the meat sauce, and half of the cheese mixture. Repeat the layers.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
