A comforting baked spaghetti casserole layered with meat sauce and creamy cheese.

  • Total Time: 60

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans pasta sauce (15 ounces each)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (15 ounces)
  • 12 ounces spaghetti
  • 3 cups cottage cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the pasta sauce and diced tomatoes. Let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, mix the cottage cheese, half of the mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper.
  • In a 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the spaghetti, followed by half of the meat sauce, and half of the cheese mixture. Repeat the layers.
  • Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
