Maple Walnut Butter Cake Squares

Delightful buttery squares infused with maple syrup and crunchy walnuts.

  • Total Time: 45

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1.5 cups brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup walnuts (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the maple syrup and vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  • Fold in the chopped walnuts gently.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, cut into squares and serve! Enjoy!
