Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup pecans (chopped)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the flour and salt until combined. Press this mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan to form a crust.
- Bake the crust for about 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
- While the crust cools, whisk together the maple syrup, eggs, chopped pecans, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
- Pour this maple filling over the slightly cooled crust, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, until the filling is set and slightly puffed. It should be a lovely golden brown.
- Let the squares cool completely before lifting them out of the pan and cutting into squares.
