Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb flank steak
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jalapeño sliced (optional)
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup sliced cucumbers
- 1/4 cup sliced green onions
- 4 hoagie rolls or baguettes
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (for spreading)
- 1 cup kimchi (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- Start by marinating the flank steak. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, and minced garlic. Mix well and add the flank steak. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight for deeper flavor.
- After marinating, heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade.
- Cook the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired doneness. For medium-rare, aim for 135°F.
- Once cooked, let the steak rest for about 5-10 minutes. This step is crucial as it allows the juices to redistribute.
- While the steak rests, prepare the hoagie rolls. Slice them open and spread a thin layer of mayonnaise inside.
- Slice the rested steak thinly against the grain. This ensures tenderness in every bite.
- Assemble your sandwiches by layering the steak, shredded lettuce, sliced cucumbers, and green onions. Top with jalapeños and kimchi for an extra kick!
- Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious creation!
