- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder

- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut into squares or circles with a knife or dough cutter.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully drop the dough pieces into the hot oil, frying a few at a time until golden brown.
- Remove the beignets and drain on paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the coating.
- While the beignets are still warm, dip them in honey and then roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
