  2. Grease an 8-inch round cake pan.

  4. In another bowl, whisk together the cooled coffee, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring gently until just mixed.
  6. Fold in the caramel sauce and optional chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
