- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup ice water
- 1 cup fruit jam or chocolate spread
- 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 1-2 tablespoons milk (to thin icing)
- to taste sprinkles (for decoration)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the cold butter and mix until crumbly.
- Stir in the ice water until the dough forms.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread your desired filling on half of the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
- Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal.
- Brush the top with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- While it cools, mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled Pop Tart.
- Cut it into squares or rectangles and serve.
