Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup ice water
  • 1 cup fruit jam or chocolate spread
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk (to thin icing)
  • to taste sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the cold butter and mix until crumbly.
  • Stir in the ice water until the dough forms.
  • Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Spread your desired filling on half of the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
  • Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal.
  • Brush the top with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  • While it cools, mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled Pop Tart.
  • Cut it into squares or rectangles and serve.
