Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 1/4 cups warm water (about 110°F)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, minced garlic, and Parmesan cheese to the yeast mixture. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Place a Dutch oven inside to heat up as well.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a round loaf. Let it rest for another 30 minutes.
- Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven from the oven. Place the dough inside, cover it with the lid, and bake for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
- Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
