Quick skillet recipe of seared steak cubes and mushrooms tossed in garlic butter and herbs. Ready in under 20 minutes and great for family meals or appetizers.

  • 1 lb sirloin steak (trimmed and cut into 1-inch cubes)
  • 8 oz cremini mushrooms (halved)
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (or 1/2 tsp dried thyme)
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt (plus more to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)

Instructions

  • Pat steak cubes dry and season with salt and pepper. Let rest 10 minutes.
  • Heat skillet over medium-high and add 1 tbsp oil. Sear mushrooms cut-side down 4 minutes until golden; remove.
  • Add remaining oil and 1 tbsp butter. Add steak in a single layer and cook 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  • Reduce heat to medium. Push steak aside, add remaining butter and garlic, cook 30 seconds, then mix through steak.
  • Return mushrooms, add Worcestershire and thyme, toss 1 minute. Finish with parsley and lemon if desired.
