  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion (sliced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • 4 slices bacon (chopped (optional))
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (for a tangy twist)

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. If using bacon, cook until crispy, then remove and set aside.
  • Add butter to the skillet. Once melted, add sliced onions and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • Add the chopped cabbage and stir to combine with onions and garlic.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir occasionally for about 10-15 minutes until tender.
  • Drizzle apple cider vinegar over the cabbage and stir in bacon bits. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
