  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place on a lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  5. While baking, heat olive oil in a skillet and sauté remaining onion until caramelized (10-15 minutes).
  6. Add beef broth to the skillet, simmer, and gently add baked meatballs; simmer for 5 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle cheese over meatballs, cover, and cook until cheese is melted (2-3 minutes).
