Deliciously creamy stuffed pasta shells filled with cheese and spinach, baked in marinara sauce.

  • 12 large pasta shells pasta shells
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1 egg egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • for garnish Fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, chopped spinach, egg, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  • Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  • Stuff each shell with the cheese mixture and place them in the baking dish, open side up.
  • Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let the shells cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil, if desired.
