Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounces favorite pasta (penne or fettuccine work well)
- 1 pound Italian sausage (mild or spicy, depending on your preference)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion (diced)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Start by cooking the pasta according to package instructions. Make sure to salt the water for flavor. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until it becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the Italian sausage to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes.
- Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Stir in the heavy cream and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Mix in the grated Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning, stirring until the cheese melts and the sauce is creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat it well in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat everything through.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
