A classic lasagna recipe made with layers of noodles, rich meat sauce, and a creamy cheese filling.

Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil salted water, cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions, then drain and lay flat.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet, cook ground beef or sausage until browned, drain fat, and stir in marinara sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Mix ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  4. In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers and top with remaining mozzarella.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden. Cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
