Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf brioche bread (about 12–14 slices)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- butter for greasing the baking dish
- powdered sugar for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), brown sugar, and salt until well combined.
- Arrange the brioche slices in the greased baking dish, overlapping them slightly.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the brioche slices, making sure to coat them well. Press down gently to help absorb the liquid.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and let it sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for best results.
- Once ready to bake, remove the dish from the fridge and let it come to room temperature for about 10-15 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
