A delightful blend of rich chocolate and zesty orange in a moist loaf cake.

  • Total Time: 80

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ cup orange juice

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the milk, orange zest, and vanilla extract until combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Divide the batter into two bowls. In one bowl, mix in the cocoa powder and orange juice to create the chocolate batter.
  • Spoon the orange and chocolate batters into the prepared loaf pan. Use a knife to gently swirl the batters together.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
