Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups chocolate pudding (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup brewed espresso, cooled
- 2 cups chocolate wafers or ladyfinger cookies
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chocolate shavings or cocoa powder (for garnish)
- 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until it begins to thicken. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, then continue whipping until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
- If you’re making your own chocolate pudding, prepare it according to the package instructions or your homemade recipe. Let it cool.
- Start layering your trifle. In a large glass bowl or individual serving glasses, place a layer of chocolate wafers or ladyfingers at the bottom.
- Drizzle about 1/4 cup of the cooled espresso over the cookies to soak them slightly, followed by a layer of chocolate pudding.
- Add a layer of whipped cream on top of the pudding, smoothing it out with a spatula.
- Repeat the layers until you reach the top of the dish, finishing with whipped cream. Don’t forget to save some chocolate shavings for the top!
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, allowing the layers to set and the flavors to meld together.
