Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • a pinch salt

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the egg, vanilla extract, baking powder, and salt; mix until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour, mixing until incorporated.
  • Press half of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to create a crust.
  • Spread the chopped strawberries evenly over the crust.
  • Sprinkle the remaining dough over the strawberries, creating a crumbly topping.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  • Let cool completely before adding the chocolate topping.
  • Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or double boiler, then drizzle over the cooled bars.
