  • For the dough:
    • 4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 tablespoons sugar
    • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
    • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
    • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 2 large eggs
  • For the filling:
    • 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
    • 1/4 cup water
  • For the icing:
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl; let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, and salt; gradually mix in flour and knead until smooth.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  4. In a saucepan, cook cherries, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and water over medium heat until thickened; let cool.
  5. Roll out the risen dough, spread cherry filling over it, and roll tightly into a log.
  6. Cut the log into 12 pieces and place in a greased baking dish; cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Whisk together icing ingredients until smooth.
  9. Drizzle icing over warm rolls and serve.

  • Ensure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
  • Cherries can be fresh or frozen; if using frozen, thaw beforehand.
