Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- ½ cup warm milk
- ¼ cup sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by mixing warm milk and sugar, then adding yeast and letting it sit for 5 minutes.
- Combine flour and salt in a bowl, create a well, and add the yeast mixture and melted butter to form a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes, then let it rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for about 1 hour.
- Mix minced garlic, mozzarella, and Italian seasoning for the filling.
- Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle the cheese mixture on top.
- Roll the dough tightly, cut into 12 pieces, and place cut side up in a greased muffin tin.
- Let the cruffins rise for another 30 minutes covered with a towel.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C), brush with egg wash, and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool in the tin for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack, then enjoy warm!
Notes
- For best results, use warm milk (not hot) to activate the yeast.
- Feel free to customize the filling with additional herbs or spices.
