- 3 ripe pears (peeled, cored, and sliced)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter ((1 stick))
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk (or milk + 1/2 tsp vinegar)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt the butter in a 9-inch round cake pan over low heat. Sprinkle brown sugar over the melted butter.
- Arrange the sliced pears over the brown sugar mixture.
- In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients with alternating buttermilk until just combined.
- Pour the batter over the pears in the pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before flipping onto a serving plate.
