- 1 cup sugar (for the caramel)
- 3 large eggs
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk ((14 ounces))
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the sugar and stir gently until melted and golden brown.
- Pour the melted sugar into a round cake pan, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Let it cool.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs until beaten.
- Mix in the sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the custard mixture over the hardened caramel in the pan.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place a larger baking dish with water in the oven.
- Put the flan pan in the water bath and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a knife comes out clean.
- Let the flan cool at room temperature for about an hour, then refrigerate for at least four hours.
- To serve, run a knife around the edges and invert onto a plate.
