Ingredients

  • 4 medium yams, peeled and chopped
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 cup crispy bacon, crumbled
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop yams into even-sized pieces.
  2. Boil the yams in water for about 15 minutes until fork-tender.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan, then add brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and maple syrup; stir until combined.
  4. Drain yams, return to pot, and mix with the glaze, then add pecans and bacon.
  5. Transfer to a greased baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
