Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups diced apples (peeled and cored)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and sugar.
- In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients: applesauce, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet and dry mixtures, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fold in the diced apples.
- Scoop the batter onto a greased baking sheet, shaping it into round fritters, spaced about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Let the fritters cool for a few minutes, then drizzle the glaze over them.
Notes
- Be careful not to overmix the batter to avoid tough fritters.
- Adjust the glaze consistency with more milk if necessary.
