- 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
- 3 medium apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a bowl, mix the sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Set aside to let the flavors meld.
- Roll out one sheet of puff pastry on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick.
- Cut the pastry into squares or rectangles, depending on your desired shape.
- Place a generous spoonful of the apple mixture on one half of the pastry, leaving space around the edges.
- Fold the pastry over to create a pocket and crimp the edges using a fork to seal.
- Repeat with the second sheet of puff pastry and the remaining apple filling.
- Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Arrange the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed up.
- Let them cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and serving.
