To whip up these delightful Almond Banket Bars, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 1 package (17.25 ounces) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup almond paste
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Sliced almonds, for topping
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and roll out puff pastry; cut into two 12×6 inch rectangles.
  2. Mix almond paste, granulated sugar, softened butter, and vanilla in a bowl until smooth.
  3. Spread half of the almond filling on one pastry rectangle, leaving an inch on each side; place the second rectangle on top.
  4. Seal edges with a fork to prevent leaking.
  5. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
  6. Bake on a parchment-lined sheet for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Cool, dust with powdered sugar if desired, then cut and serve.
