Crispy and sweet apple fries made in the air fryer for a healthier snack option!

  • Total Time: 27

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are best)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • as needed cooking spray or olive oil (for greasing)

Instructions

  • Start by preheating your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  • While it preheats, wash and peel the apples. Cut them into thin wedges or fry-shaped pieces.
  • In one bowl, mix the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs and add the vanilla extract. This will help the coating stick.
  • In a third bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs.
  • Dip each apple slice into the flour mixture, then the egg mixture, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Make sure they are well-covered.
  • Place the coated apple fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they don’t overlap.
  • Spray the apple fries lightly with cooking spray or olive oil, which helps them crisp up nicely.
  • Air fry for about 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for even cooking.
  • Once they are golden brown and crispy, remove them and let them cool for a couple of minutes before serving.
