Ingredients

  • 1 cup of vinegar
  • 1 cup of ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • Optional: Red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, vinegar, ketchup, soy sauce, and garlic powder; stir well.
  2. Heat over medium, stirring until it boils to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Mix cornstarch and water in a bowl, then add to boiling mixture while stirring until thickened (1-2 minutes).
  4. Add red pepper flakes if desired, taste, and adjust seasoning.
  5. Remove from heat, cool, and transfer to a serving bowl.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • Can be served warm or cold.
