Ingredients

- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of vinegar
- 1 cup of ketchup
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon of water
- Optional: Red pepper flakes for heat
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, vinegar, ketchup, soy sauce, and garlic powder; stir well.
- Heat over medium, stirring until it boils to dissolve the sugar.
- Mix cornstarch and water in a bowl, then add to boiling mixture while stirring until thickened (1-2 minutes).
- Add red pepper flakes if desired, taste, and adjust seasoning.
- Remove from heat, cool, and transfer to a serving bowl.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- Can be served warm or cold.
