Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Oil for frying
  • 4 hoagie rolls or French bread
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Pickles
  • Remoulade sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Rinse and dry the shrimp.
  2. Set up three bowls for breading: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with the cornmeal mixture.
  3. Dredge shrimp in flour, dip in eggs, and coat with the cornmeal mixture.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Fry shrimp in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Toast hoagie rolls until golden and warm.
  7. Assemble sandwiches with lettuce, shrimp, tomatoes, pickles, and remoulade sauce.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
