Ingredients

- 1 pound of shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of chopped onion
- 1/2 cup of chopped green bell pepper
- 1/2 cup of chopped celery
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 cups of seafood stock
- 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley
- Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a pot and whisk in flour; stir until the roux is brown (15-20 minutes).
- Add chopped onion, bell pepper, and celery; cook for 5 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic; cook for 1 minute.
- Pour in seafood stock and add Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper; simmer for 10 minutes.
- Fold in shrimp and cook until pink and opaque (5-7 minutes).
- Stir in chopped parsley and serve over rice.
Notes
- Adjust seasoning according to taste.
- For added flavor, use homemade seafood stock.
