Ingredients
Scale
Gathering your ingredients is the first step to creating this delicious masterpiece. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 3 cups of peeled and sliced apples (about 4 medium apples)
- 1 cup of salted caramel sauce
- 1 box of yellow cake mix
- 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1 cup of chopped nuts (optional, but I love pecans!)
Feel free to adjust the ingredients based on your preferences. For instance, you can use different types of apples for varied flavors. I often use Granny Smith for their tartness, which pairs beautifully with the sweetness of the caramel.
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel and slice the apples, then toss with cinnamon and some caramel sauce.
- Spread the apple mixture in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, drizzle with caramel, and sprinkle dry cake mix on top.
- Pour melted butter evenly over the cake mix.
- Bake for 45 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving, best enjoyed warm.
Notes
- For a different flavor, try using various apple types.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
