  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh buns for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet and sear the beef chuck roast on all sides until browned.
  2. Transfer the beef to a slow cooker and add sliced onions and minced garlic around it.
  3. In a bowl, mix beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, paprika, salt, and pepper, then pour over the beef.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours until fork-tender.
  5. Remove the beef, let it rest for 15 minutes, then shred with forks.
  6. Mix shredded beef back into the sauce and serve on fresh buns.
