Ingredients
Scale
To whip up this delightful Parmesan Focaccia Bread, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F)
- 3 ½ to 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- ⅓ cup olive oil
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme) for garnishing
These ingredients are simple and accessible, just like my cooking philosophy! You probably have most of them in your pantry already.
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining warm water, sugar, and yeast; let sit until frothy.
- Mix flour and salt in a bowl, then gradually add the yeast mixture and olive oil to form a shaggy dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, transfer it to a greased baking sheet, and shape it into a rectangle or circle.
- Dimple the surface, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with Parmesan and herbs.
- Cover and let rise for another 20-30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool for a few minutes before slicing and serve warm with olive oil.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh herbs for garnishing.
- This bread is best enjoyed warm and can be dipped in olive oil.
