- 4–5 pounds of pork shoulder
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of paprika
- 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon of onion powder
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- 1 cup of chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and pat the pork shoulder dry.
- Mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne in a bowl. Rub the spice mix all over the pork.
- Optional: Sear the pork in olive oil in a skillet until browned on all sides.
- Place the pork in a roasting pan, add chicken broth, cover with foil, and roast for 4-6 hours until it reaches 195°F (90°C).
- Let the pork rest for 30 minutes, then shred with two forks.
- Serve pulled pork on buns, tacos, or salads.

- Resist opening the oven during cooking for best results.
