Scale
Let’s gather our ingredients! Here’s what you will need:
- 2 (8-ounce) filet mignon steaks
- 1 cup of bold red wine (like Cabernet Sauvignon)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and season the steaks with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet and sear the filets for 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Remove the filets and sauté garlic and thyme in the skillet, then add red wine and scrape the bottom.
- Reduce the wine by half, return the filets to the skillet, and bake for 15-20 minutes.
- Remove from oven, add butter, let it melt into the sauce, and garnish with thyme.
Notes
- For best results, use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.
