To whip up this mouthwatering Old-Fashioned Swiss Steak, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- 2 pounds of round steak, trimmed
- 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) of diced tomatoes
- 1 cup of beef broth
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of paprika
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cut round steak into portions, season with salt and pepper, and coat with flour.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet and sear steak for 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Remove steak, sauté onions and garlic in the same skillet until onions are translucent.
- Add diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, and paprika to skillet; stir to combine.
- Return steak to skillet, cover, and simmer on low heat for about 1 hour.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
