To whip up this mouthwatering Old-Fashioned Swiss Steak, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 2 pounds of round steak, trimmed
  • 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) of diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cut round steak into portions, season with salt and pepper, and coat with flour.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet and sear steak for 3-4 minutes on each side.
  3. Remove steak, sauté onions and garlic in the same skillet until onions are translucent.
  4. Add diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, and paprika to skillet; stir to combine.
  5. Return steak to skillet, cover, and simmer on low heat for about 1 hour.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
