A rich and creamy mushroom sauce with crispy bacon and fresh thyme, perfect for pasta or as a dip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces of fresh mushrooms (preferably cremini or button)
  • 4 slices of bacon
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon of fresh thyme leaves (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Parmesan cheese for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, then drain on paper towels.
  2. Sauté onion in the bacon grease until translucent, then add garlic and sauté for another minute.
  3. Add mushrooms and cook until golden brown and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Pour in heavy cream and let simmer for 5 minutes to thicken.
  5. Crumble bacon into the sauce, add thyme, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Serve over pasta or chicken, garnished with Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

  • Feel free to substitute different mushrooms based on your preference.
