Ingredients

- 8 ounces of fresh mushrooms (preferably cremini or button)
- 4 slices of bacon
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon of fresh thyme leaves (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Parmesan cheese for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, then drain on paper towels.
- Sauté onion in the bacon grease until translucent, then add garlic and sauté for another minute.
- Add mushrooms and cook until golden brown and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in heavy cream and let simmer for 5 minutes to thicken.
- Crumble bacon into the sauce, add thyme, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Serve over pasta or chicken, garnished with Parmesan cheese if desired.
Notes
- Feel free to substitute different mushrooms based on your preference.
- This sauce pairs well with various proteins and can also be used as a dip.
