These French Onion Sausage Rolls are a delicious blend of savory sausage and caramelized onions wrapped in flaky puff pastry.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of ground sausage (your favorite type)
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of thyme (dried or fresh)
  • 1 package of puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Sauté onions in butter until golden brown, about 10 minutes.
  2. Add ground sausage, cooking until no longer pink, then mix in garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  3. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and roll out puff pastry, cutting into 4×6 inch rectangles.
  4. Place sausage mixture on one end of each pastry rectangle, fold over, and seal edges with a fork.
  5. Brush with egg wash, bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • For a twist, try adding cheese to the sausage mixture.
  • These rolls are best served fresh but can be stored in the fridge for a couple of days.
