Scale
Seafood
- 1 pound fresh Florida shrimp, peeled and deveined
Dairy
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Eggs
- 3 large eggs
Vegetables & Aromatics
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Seasonings
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Other
- 1 pre-made pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure even baking and a golden crust.
- Prepare the Shrimp: In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the onion and garlic until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the shrimp and cook until pink and opaque, about 3-5 minutes. Set aside.
- Make the Filling: In a large bowl, whisk together heavy cream, eggs, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Fold in the shrimp mixture and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Assemble the Pie: Line a pie dish with the pre-made crust. Pour in the shrimp filling and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake the Pie: Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, until the top is golden and the filling is set. A knife inserted should come out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Let the pie cool for about 10 minutes to set. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Ensure shrimp are thoroughly cooked before adding to the filling.
- Use a deep-dish pie crust for a fuller pie.
- You can substitute other cheeses like Gruyère for a different flavor profile.
