Instructions
- Combine flour, granulated sugar, and salt; add cold butter and mix until crumbly.
- Stir in vanilla and add cold water gradually until dough forms.
- Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Peel, core, and slice apples; toss with lemon juice, cinnamon, brown sugar, and cornstarch.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out half of the dough and place in a greased baking pan for the bottom crust.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust.
- Roll out the second half of the dough, place it over the filling, seal edges, and cut slits for steam.
- Brush the top crust with beaten egg.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
