This fig jam recipe combines fresh figs, sugar, and lemon juice for a delightful spread with a hint of cinnamon.

  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: Approximately 4 cups 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds of fresh figs, stems removed and chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Wash the figs, remove stems, and chop them into small pieces.
  2. In a large pot, combine chopped figs, sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Place the pot over medium heat, stirring frequently until the sugar dissolves and the mixture bubbles (about 5-10 minutes).
  4. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
  5. To test, place a spoonful on a plate; if it holds its shape, it’s done.
  6. Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, seal tightly, and cool to room temperature before refrigerating.

Notes

  • For a smoother jam, blend the mixture after cooking.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
